Students taking the VATSIM P1 course must successfully pass the written exam upon completion of the training materials. In addition, a practical exam must be completed using MetroAir ACARS while on the VATSIM network.
The practical exam may be completed with up to 3 flights. The pilot is expected to demonstrate flight while communicating with ATC through departure, en-route, and arrival. We at MetroAir realize it isn't always easy to find a flight with full ATC coverage for your full flight, which is why we are allowing for 3 flights to cover this. Once you have met the requirements, contact the training department
with the PIREP IDs of the flights which demonstrate your flying with ATC during the 3 phases, and a member of our training department will verify.
Tenured pilots with 150 hours of VATSIM flights with MetroAir Virtual may bypass the practical exam if they achieve a score of 90% on the written exam. If you meet these requirements, please contact the training department
indicating you are opting out of the practical exam once you have completed the written exam.
